Jesus wanted us to remember why and how He died, and what He did on Earth, when He commanded ‘do this in remembrance of me’.

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me. In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

1 Corinthians 11:23-25

Many people were angered by the truth He spoke about them especially the Pharisees. Also the fact that people started considering Him as ‘the King of the Jews’ was what ultimately led Him through the administration of Pontius Pilate to a painful death on the cross.

Jesus was fully aware of what was happening around Him, and He deliberately laid down His life.

So as we take the Lord’s supper we should remember that Jesus dies willingly for us to cleanse us from our sins.

With that in mind God wants us to move on, not remaining in the guilt of our past sins.

  • Remember Jesus’ bravery.
  • Remember the blameless life He lived.
  • Remember that He died for us.
  • Remember His love for us, especially for those who hated Him.
  • Remember all the miracles He performed.
  • Remember all the people He healed, and even resurrected.
  • Remember His great teachings.
  • Remember His glorious resurrection and ascension.
  • Remember the great Commission He gave to us: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit  (Matthew 28:19)”
  • Remember that He will come again, not as a meek Lamb to sacrifice Himself, but as a fierce Lion to judge the world.

As far as you keep these things in your heart, and you cherish them, you faith and love for Him will grow stronger.

Stay blessed and have a peaceful weekend.
